So in 2008 & 2009 I see a few of Frank Kern’s pitches and videos and he definitely has my interest piqued. As I begin to lean further towards starting my own online business, I get an email from Frank Kern touting this young hotshot named Amish. I watched the video series and Amish was very polished and the video proof was compelling. With my wife on board we jumped in and purchased the Magic Bullet System. This is no $297 course. We signed on for a $3000+ system in 4 easy monthly payments and a 60 day guarantee.

The Magic Bullet System is a hosted software platform that helps set up blogs, campaigns for ppc, cpa, ppv, etc., tracking, rotating creatives, and a host of other things. When we got in the system was brand new so there were some bugs but we stuck with it, went through all the trainings, videos, and even managed to make a few bucks. Nowhere near the investment we had put into it not to mention the time. I can clearly recall being very frustrated as Jay was going through how to manually set something up via FTP. As a complete newbie I had no idea what he was doing and he went through it so fast, I literally had to rewind and rewatch 10 or 11 times!

Jay is Jay Stiles aka Jose Rivera and is Amish Shah’s partner in the Magic Bullet System. I have to admit that I did kind of get a chuckle with the “gansta” attitude throughout the company. It all boils down to this, we ultimately got out within the 60 days and got our money back, no questions asked. Does that mean that the Magic Bullet System is no good? Quite the contrary actually. My wife and I both agreed that the final platform, once all the bugs got worked out, would be pretty impressive. Our issue is that we just don’t have the mentality to spend a lot on testing different campaigns until we find what works!

I’m sure that some of the people who were working the system (and who probably had more experience to start with) made some money but I know for a fact that we were not the only ones who bailed. Here’s the thing though; we learned an awful lot about all aspects of internet marketing from the different types of campaigns to writing sales copy to setting up blogs. And we left the MBS program still inspired to continue our online business. WE continued some ppc and ppv after we left but we never got the kind of results we were looking for and as I said before, I HATE throwing money out there to see what sticks.

Jay and Amish and the Magic Bullet System are still out there and doing well I presume and we certainly wish them well. Affiliate Marketing – This where a company rewards someone for getting a person to their website and getting them to perform a certain action. In most cases this action would be purchasing a product. Each affiliate is provided a unique link for them so they can be rewarded when the action is performed.

Pay per click (PPC) is an advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites/blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser’s website. Advertisers bid on keywords they predict their target market will use as search terms when they are looking for a product or service.

Niche Market – Is a focused, targeted portion of a market sector. It is a narrowly defined group of potential customers. This is a market that is not normally targeted by the mainstream. Bigger companies may ignore these smaller markets but these specialized areas may of great value to smaller companies.

Mentoring Is The Key to Internet Marketing Success

Hi there and I trust your Internet marketing activity is progressing well. My week has been fraught with the day job but I’ve managed to put in a worthwhile amount of effort into our online and Internet marketing activity. I’ve got what I hope is really useful point to share with you.

However the week did not start well, on Sunday I’d got a bit frustrated that although I had been doing all the usual and necessary marketing activity, blog posting regularly, submitting articles, etc I wasn’t happy with the traffic to my blog – and I know what I’m like, if I get frustrated, I then get fed up and then I stop and devote time to my property portfolio or something else. I guess many of you reading this will have experienced exactly what I’m talking about, may even be there right now.

THIS  is My ‘Make It’ year

But because I’ve absolutely decided this is the year for us making it online – I can’t just stop. So there are some guys here in the UK who are real internet marketing professionals who I know, so I fired off an email – identified what I’ve done (in detail) and asked for some frank and constructive feedback even down to are my posts rubbish,? That kind of thing. So 24 hours past, nothing (well they are busy people!!!) but then soon after I get a response & I’ve pulled out some of the relevant comments below:

We all Need Help

Wow, how do you think I felt after that! I was buzzing and it’s that which has given me the energy to really forge ahead this week. My point here is I’m lucky that I’ve found a couple of mentors to really hold my hand when I need it & we all do from time to time. Now these guys are really successful, making real money so for me when they comment good, bad or indifferent – I listen. So the points they made were just the ‘pep talk’ I needed.

Get a ‘Life qualified’ Mentor

Moral is get your self a mentor who ‘knows’. But make sure you get one who ‘is doing it, making money’ online not just theorising about it. I don’t even really like the term mentor I prefer ‘Helping Hand’ but it doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Search the forums you’ll find many recommendations and also you can check out your shortlist of potential mentors through forum posts to ensure you get the ‘real deal’.

I really believe this is possibly one of the most vital assets you can spend money on. because for us it makes the difference of getting hacked off and walking away for months, to then return and re-start & re-learn, time wasted. And that’s why although we’ve been online for several years we’ve not ‘made it’. This year will & is different and I tell you my mindset is totally different this time as well, helped by having experts to turn to in my hour of need.

Quite often I find myself spending a good amount of time on YouTube watching the latest video submissions.  When I log on to CNN or NPR I always like to watch the iReports or news videos.  Sometimes I would rather watch the video than read the report.  Television commercials have been the gold standard of product marketing for decades.  Now instead of spending millions to market our products, we can make a video and submit it to YouTube for next to nothing.  All we need is a decent camera, a computer, and we are ready to go.  My problem is that I am not comfortable in front of a camera.  I know that video marketing reaches millions of people.  As a Network Marketing business owner, I must take advantage of this medium.

A solution for someone like me is to make a PowerPoint video presentation.  I can take advantage of video marketing without ever having to step in front of a camera.  The process of making these videos is not as complicated as you might think.  There are a couple pieces of software you will need to download, but the cost is minimal.

As part of our Internet Marketing strategy, we should be posting information on our blogs, submitting articles to the most popular directories, and yes, submitting videos to sites such as YouTube.  All three of these activities require you to come up with interesting and original content.  A good plan of action is to start by writing a blog post.  I like my posts to be between 600-1000 words.  Long enough to relate the information on my subject, but short enough that my readers will not lose interest.  Next, take that same original content and write 2-3 articles that you can submit to the article directories.  And finely, use one or two of the article and make PowerPoint presentations.  If you are a MAC fanatic, KeyNote will be the program to use.

You will want to design a PowerPoint slide that has your business or company logo at the top.  You can save that as a template to be used as your master slide.  The logo will give the presentation a professional look.  Next, take the content from your articles and simply copy and paste it onto the slides. Try to split the content evenly so that it looks good in the final presentation.  It is that easy. In less than twenty minutes, you will have a presentation ready to turn into video. Now for the software programs that I mentioned.  One will create the video and the other will help you submit the finished product.

1.    CamStudio: Camstudio is free software that will record whatever is on your computer desktop as video and your voice as audio.  Unfortunately, they do not offer a version that is compatible with Mac OS.  This software has excellent video tutorials to help you get started.

•    Camtasia: For the Mac user, Camtasia is the software that you will have to use.  It can be purchased for about $100.00 and there is a 30-day trial period before you have to buy.

2.    TubeMogul: TubeMogul is a free service that will help you submit your finished video to the sites of your choice.  You will have to establish accounts with the individual video submission sites, and log your user name and pass word with TubeMogul.

•    Traffic Geyser: As an alternative to TubeMogul, Traffic Geyser has a few more features and is more user-friendly, but charges a monthly fee.

The last piece of hardware you will want to get is a good noise-canceling microphone.  The sound quality will be much better than the microphones built into your computer.  Open up the CamStudio or Camtasia software and start the record feature. Then just read your presentation into the microphone.  Of course you will want to practice a few times to get a good recording.  Try to put some personality into the presentation so your listeners will be more likely to watch the entire video. After you are satisfied with your creation, submit it using TubeMogul or Traffic Geyser.  This is a fun and inexpensive way to get your content in front of millions of viewers.
